Timber Harvest Workshop

Date: February 23, 2007.

Location: Franklin County, Kansas. 

Description:
Kansas Forest Service and partners, Hillsdale Water Quality Project, and Lake Region Resource Conservation and Development will be providing a Timber Harvest Workshop in Franklin County, Feb. 23, 2007. The workshop will demonstrate how to properly plan harvest operations and apply best management practices to reduce impacts on streams and water quality.  Other topics may include log skidding, sawmill operations, and follow-up timber improvements. The Timber Harvest Workshop is part of the Marais des Cygnes Watershed Riparian Initiative, funded by an Environmental Protection Agency Section 319 Clean Water Act Nonpoint Source Pollution grant administered by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Kansas Dam Safety Conference 2007

Date: March 12-14, 2007.

Location: Holidome, Sixth & Fairlawn, Topeka, KS.

Description: Dam owners interested in extending the life and safety of their dams and professionals interested in expanding their technical knowledge of dam safety issues are invited to attend the Kansas Dam Safety Conference 2007. Sponsored by the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s dam safety program, this two-day event will feature nearly 40 sessions covering inspections, maintenance, and design of embankment dams. Small Dam Owner Seminar

Description: This free non-technical seminar will provide dam owners with information about the care of their dam, causes of failures, permitting and emergency action planning. Fourth Annual Hillsdale Watershed Festival

Date: April 13, 2007.
 
Location: Hillsdale State Park.

Description:
The Fourth Annual Hillsdale Watershed Festival will be held April 13, 2007, at Hillsdale State Park. Many organizations will be providing activities to more than 400 eighth-grade students from Wheatridge Middle School and Spring Hill Middle School. The activities provide hands-on learning experiences about water quality, pollution, wildlife, and many other environmental concerns.

ASDSO West Regional Conference 2007

Date: May 20-22, 2007.

Location: Holidome, Sixth & Fairlawn, Topeka, KS

Description: Hosted by the Nebraska Dam Safety Program, the 2007 West Regional Conference will be held at the Qwest Center and the Omaha Hilton Hotel in Omaha, Nebraska.
