Thanks to the hard work of PRIDE Communities and the efforts of the Kansas PRIDE Inc. Board of Directors PRIDE Day 2009 was a great success!  PRIDE Day is the Kansas Department of Commerce and K-State Research and Extension PRIDE program’s annual educational and community recognition event.

Representatives from Wilson, Kansas accept a Community of Excellence Award at PRIDE Day

Forty communities from across Kansas came together for education, sharing, and recognition of success at Kansas PRIDE Day 2009. The event was held in Junction City, Kansas at the Courtyard by Marriot Convention Center.

Twenty six communities were recognized for their hard work and success in their community development efforts. A photo inventory of winners is available of communities recognized this year.

Door prizes from sponsors!

Sponsors provided great door prizes!

The main feature of the day was most notably Mr. People Builder himself Steve Siemens of Siemen's People Builders!

Mr. People Builder Himself!

Everyone that attended left with a great sense of empowerment after Steve’s "Visualize or Fossilize" session! The following quote from a participant seemed to be the voice of all PRIDE Community representatives that attended:

"I really enjoyed coming to my first PRIDE Day! It was wonderful and very informative. I especially enjoyed the speaker, I learned so much, laughed so hard, and am still thinking about what he said. Our group talked the entire way home about future plans, and got so many great ideas. Thanks for a wonderful day!" - Eden Fuson, Potwin PRIDE

The PRIDE staff would like to congratulate the recipients of the 2009 STAR, Community of Excellence and Youth Awards! The staff would also like to thank the many PRIDE communities that participated in the community sharing. Your contributions were a great help to presenters and fellow community members!

The Kansas PRIDE Program...
Building Better Communities

The Kansas PRIDE Program is a partnership of K-State Research and Extension, the Kansas Department of Commerce, and Kansas PRIDE, Inc.

PRIDE is dedicated to serving communities across the state to encourage and assist local government and volunteers in making their community a better place to live and work.

Through the PRIDE program, local communities identify what they would like to preserve, create, or improve for their future. Then, working with the resources of K-State Research & Extension and the Kansas Department of Commerce, community volunteers pull together to create their ideal community future. To learn more about the Kansas PRIDE Program, we invite you to look through the resources and links available at this website, or contact the PRIDE staff.
